Parish Council – Whitmore Parish Plan

The Whitmore Design Statement was distributed to all households some three years ago and should be read in conjunction with this Parish Plan. This statement is available from the Parish Council.

The important fact to emphasise is that every household in the Parish has been consulted about their thoughts, ideas, aspirations & hopes for the future of this Parish. This has been done by questionnaires that have been hand delivered to and collected from households. Public meetings have also been held so that every age group and every sector within the Parish has been consulted.

In April 2005, after much hard work by a dedicated team, the Parish Plan was published. A copy of the plan was distributed to every household in the parish. A copy of the plan can also be viewed by clicking the button below. The following comment, made by the Chairman of the Parish Council Council, accompanied the Parish Plan when it was distributed.

Quote from John Booth, Chairman of the Parish Council

"The views expressed by the residents in the Parish Plan provide a wide range of topics for consideration by the Council and other bodies within our community.

Many of the services and facilities suggested have a great deal of merit although the cost implications involved can be considerable, so far as the Parish Council and other bodies are concerned, with a consequent impact on the local community charge burden. In addition, many of the proposals will require much greater community involvement than there is at present, as the time resources of the Parish Councilors are limited.

However, all suggestions will be appraised for their feasibility and the Parish Council will be canvassing support from volunteers, and also financial input where appropriate.

The survey, carried out by a group of dedicated individuals, has proved very productive, and they will assist the Parish Council in implementing those recommendations which are achievable. The thanks of all our residents and to our researchers must be recorded."
