Parish Council – Roads & Litter
Roads in poor condition and litter are both issues that cause irritation and complaint. As Parish Councilors we often hear of these complaints and unfortunately we are somewhat limited in our response.
The roads, including pavements in the Parish, are maintained by Staffordshire County Council who actively seek "valuable assistance" from the public.
The County Council have established a customer contact centre – CLARENCE – the Customer Lighting And Roads ENquiry CEntre. If you come across such problems as potholes, faulty traffic lights, streetlights not working, or a blocked gulley, then contact CLARENCE in the following way: Freephone Telephone: 0800 23 23 23 or by email: Clarence@staffordshire.gov.uk
Be prepared to give details of the problem and its location. When the details are recorded a unique reference number is allocated to the problem so that you can track its progress with CLARENCE at a later date.
View the CLARENCE website.
Litter and rubbish are dealt with more locally by Newcastle Borough Council who, under environmental legislation, are responsible for the tidiness of the Borough including Whitmore Parish. They too have a contact telephone number: 01782 742529 where there is a response team waiting to deal with the issues. Again, give them a call describing the problem and the location.

As a Parish Council we are as equally concerned about the state of the roads and tidiness of the Parish as you are. However we would like to actively encourage our parishioners to report the problem directly. By directly reporting issues then the required response might also be faster.
We are however, interested in the service you receive. If the response is either good or bad, then let us know. We can then provide feedback to the principal authorities. |
